Loctite 601 – this is a retaining compound of Henkel, often used to fix cylindrical parts such as bearings, bushings, pulleys, gears to shafts.

1. Product information

Name: Loctite 601 Retaining Compound.

Color: Green.

Viscosity: Low (thin flow, easy to penetrate into small gaps).

Application:

Gluing/fixing bearings, bushings, gears, pulleys, bearings to shafts.

Used for gaps as small as 0.1 mm.

Durability: High, difficult to remove (must be heated when removing).

Working temperature: –55 °C to +150 °C.

Curing: In anaerobic conditions and with a metal surface.

2. Preparation before use

Surface cleaning: Remove grease, dirt, rust with solvent (e.g. Loctite SF 7063 or industrial cleaning solution).

Ensure dry and clean before applying glue.

For inert metals (aluminum, stainless steel), use Loctite Primer SF 7471 or SF 7649 to increase the speed and strength of the glue.

3. How to use

Apply glue:

Apply evenly to both the shaft and hole (if possible).

For small bearings or bushings → apply glue to the hole and then press the shaft in.

Assemble immediately after applying glue, avoid letting the glue dry in the air.

Fix the position and wait for the glue to cure.

4. Curing time

Glue begins to harden: after about 10–15 minutes (depending on the material).

Reach working strength: after 1–3 hours.

Maximum strength: after 24 hours at room temperature.

5. Safety precautions

Wear gloves, avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Do not swallow or inhale solvent vapors.

Store in a cool place (8–21 °C), away from direct sunlight.
