LOCTITE 603 Retaining Compound

Loctite 603 – this is a retaining compound used to fix cylindrical parts with high durability, especially suitable for very small gaps.

1. Product information

Name: Loctite 603 Retaining Compound.

Color: Dark green.

Viscosity: Low → easy to flow and penetrate into small gaps.

Application:

Used to fix bearings, bushings, gears, pulleys, bearings on shafts or in housings.

Suitable for gaps up to 0.1 mm.

Works well even when the surface is slightly oily.

Durability: Very high (difficult to disassemble, need to heat when disassembling).

Working temperature: –55 °C to +150 °C.

Curing mechanism: Anaerobic (when isolated from air and in contact with metal).

2. Preparation before use

Surface cleaning: Remove dust, rust, grease (recommended to use Loctite SF 7063 or industrial cleaning solution).

For less active metals (stainless steel, aluminum, zinc) → recommended to use Loctite Primer SF 7471 or SF 7649 to increase the speed and strength of the glue.

Make sure the surface is dry and clean.

3. How to use

Apply glue:

Apply glue to both the shaft and hole (if possible).

For bearings/bushings: apply glue to the hole, then press the shaft in.

Assemble immediately after application to avoid the glue drying in the air.

Fix the part in position during the initial curing time.

4. Curing time

Start fixing: after about 10 minutes (depending on the material).

Achieving working intensity: after 30–60 minutes.

Maximum strength: after 24 hours at room temperature.

5. Safety notes

Wear gloves and goggles when handling.

Avoid direct contact with eyes, skin, and mouth.

Store in a cool, dry place, ideally at 8–21 °C, away from direct sunlight.
