LOCTITE 609 General Purpose

Loctite 609 – this is a retaining compound designed to fix cylindrical parts with high durability, used for small and medium gaps.

1. Product information

Name: Loctite 609 Retaining Compound.

Color: Green.

Viscosity: Medium (≈ 125 mPa·s).

Application:

Used to glue/fix bearings, bushings, gears, pulleys on shafts or in housings.

Suitable for gaps up to 0.1 mm.

Commonly used in mechanical industry, maintenance, repair.

Durability: High (when removing, often need to heat).

Working temperature: –55 °C to +150 °C.

Curing mechanism: Anaerobic (curing in the absence of air and metal contact).

2. Preparation before use

Surface cleaning: remove dust, grease, rust with solvent (recommended Loctite SF 7063).

For less active metals (aluminum, stainless steel, zinc) → use Loctite Primer SF 7471 or SF 7649 to speed up the curing process.

Make sure the surface is dry and clean.

3. How to use

Apply glue:

Apply a thin layer of glue to the shaft and hole (if possible).

For bearings: apply glue to the hole, then install the shaft.

Assemble immediately after applying glue, do not leave the glue exposed to the air for a long time.

Fix the part during the initial curing time.

4. Curing time

Initial fixation: about 10 minutes (depending on the material).

Achieving working intensity: 30–60 minutes.

Maximum strength: after 24 hours at room temperature.

5. Safety notes

Wear gloves and goggles when handling.

Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, and skin. If contact occurs, rinse immediately with clean water.

Do not use near fire or heat sources.

Store in a cool, dry place, ideally at 8–21 °C.
