LOCTITE 620 High Temperature

Loctite 620 – this is a special type of pipe and bearing adhesive (Retaining Compound) for applications that require high temperature resistance and very high durability.

1. Product information

Name: Loctite 620 Retaining Compound.

Color: Dark green.

Viscosity: Medium (~ 500 mPa·s).

Applications:

Fixing bearings, bushings, gears, pulleys, pins to shafts or in housings.

Suitable for clearances up to 0.15 mm.

Ideal for high temperature applications such as: electric motors, engines, pumps, heating systems.

Durability: Very high (disassembly requires temperatures above 200 °C).

Working temperature: –55 °C to +200 °C (higher than most other Loctite types such as 609, 603).

Curing mechanism: Anaerobic (air removed + metal contact).

2. Preparation before use

Surface cleaning: remove dust, grease, rust with solvent (recommended Loctite SF 7063).

For less active metal surfaces (aluminum, stainless steel, zinc) → use Loctite Primer SF 7471 or SF 7649 to increase the speed and durability of curing.

The surface must be dry and clean before applying the glue.

3. How to use

Apply glue:

Apply glue evenly to both the shaft and the hole.

For bearings/ball bearings → apply to the hole and press the shaft in immediately.

Assemble immediately after applying, avoid exposing the glue to air for a long time.

Hold the part in place while the glue begins to cure.

4. Curing time

Initial fixation: about 20 minutes (depending on the material).

Achieve working strength: after 1–3 hours.

Achieve maximum strength: after 24 hours at room temperature.

5. Safety notes

Wear gloves and goggles when handling.

Avoid direct contact with eyes and skin.

Do not use near fire/high heat.

Store in a cool, dry place, ideally at 8–21 °C.

👉 Because Loctite 620 is a high-temperature resistant type, it is often compared with Loctite 638 (heavy duty, larger gaps) and Loctite 609/603 (for small gaps, lower temperatures).
